Android 4.1.2 Update Incoming: Landscape Home Screen!

Many of you might have already gotten a bit of surprise today in the form of an automatic update to your Nexus 7 Tablets.   Android version 4.1.2 has been rolling out all day and promises improved performance, added stability and a host of minor bug fixes including improvement to the reported touch sensitivity issues some users have experienced.  The most notable change however appears to be the addition of a Landscape orientation for the home screen which will make a lot of users happy who have complained of being forced to use their tablets in portrait mode unless they went ahead and added an app like 'Ultimate Rotation Control' or rooted their tablet.  Let us know if you stumble across some other goodies after the update.

I'm using Ultimate Screen Rotation and was wondering if there is some indication (other than home screen rotation) that 4.1.2 is installed. I know I can check in 'Settings/About tablet' but is there anything in the notification bar?

EDIT: Never mind, doh! I went to the link and the answer is obvious. You get a system update message.

I wonder if this is an official release on the leaked binaries for build JRO03R.. Anyone have the update that can identify the build?

Android Central has a how to manually install the update. I haven't done it though.

Instructions are here, but I can't get TWRP to flash it sucessfully 

It complained about something to do with \system\build.prop, so I removed the "launcher.force_enable_rotation=true" entry, but it still doesn't work:

Is this update automatically installed and activated, or is there something I need to do ??

I tried downloading the zip file & got the same build. prop error message trying to restore the ROM using CWM, CBers.

@birdastrompgman - are you rooted, and do you have a modified \system\build.prop file ??

I'm wondering if we have to remove the apply_check line from the update script in the zip file.

Either that, or put back the/an original build.prop file.

At this point if you are not an experienced user, I suggest you wait until the OTA is pushed to your Nexus 7. You can check for available updates under Settings> About or wait until you have a notification in the notification bar at the top of your screen.

Also I received the same error with the system\build.prop with TWRP. I did save a copy of my original build.prop at this Dropbox location (Wrong file will post later) , from my 16 Gig Nexus 7 if anyone wants to try and replace their file to see if the update will run. I do not have time to try it right now and if you try it you do so at your own risk.

Thanks S.Prime, but it looks like your build.prop file comes from a "ThinkPad Tablet".

CBers, Yes, I am rooted with a modified build.prop file. I will restore the bak file & retry the 4.1.2 ROM flash.

I don't have a backed up build.prop file, so I have re-rotated for now.
