Hey , I just bought a nexus 7 today and am loving it so far, but for what ever reason it will not up date to 4.1.2, keeps saying its already up to date any thoughts, also I'm purely stock ATM

Is your current build JR003D?

Its jroo3s, what's the difference ?

The OTA only works for build JR003D.  You'll have to flash that build in order to upgrade to v. 4.1.2 (build JZ054K).

Interesting, didn't know they had different builds of the nexus , I take it that it would be of no benefit to me if that's the case?

Hey, good goin' Jay.  You still gonna post a step-by-step for rooted devices that didn't get the update right??

Think Prime is doing that.

As an added note I just restored my 4.1.1 TWRP nandroid backup then flashed the update zip onto my rooted Nexus 7 and it work perfect first time so I went from a clean installed of 4.1.1 to an OTA update of 4.1.2, then back to 4.1.1 and back to 4.1.2 with everything intact.

Please note I have not edited the build.prop, and this is probably why my installed went smoothly.

Jackson, There is a full firmware of 4.1.2 that you can flash If you want that build. It makes no sense to flash the JR003D firmware just to hassle with an update. Go straight to JZ054K.

I'm still trying to figure out what the differences are between what I got (jroo3s) an the other (jroo3d) comparded to the newest.

Your build includes the binary update. This added updates drivers for the touch sensitivity, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth, GPS, orientation sensor, graphics GPU, CPU,  and DRM. This binary update solved many bugs, however, build JRo03S is still android version 4.1.1.  Build JZo05k is android version 4.1.2. The change in the version number signifies a change in the UI (user interface). This is apparent in the new feature of landscape rotation at the homescreen and app drawer. The new version update also includes all the bug fixes, including the bootloader.
