Locating a missing Nexus
« on: October 20, 2012, 10:24:35 AM »
Is there any app that allows tracking of a missing Nexus that does not require the app to have been downloaded and run beforehand?  Thanks in advance for any advice!   :o

Not that I have heard of. You would be able to see activity through Google Dashboard, but that would require your account to be active on the Nexus 7, which hopefully you have rendered unusable by changing your Google account password.

There are a litany of apps that do this function.  Myself, I use lookout, and pay the three dollars a month for the service, but there are quite a few that offer device tracking.  Typically, with the service, you can also activate an auto wipe feature, which would come in very handy, as I keep sensitive information on my device.  When you go into the store, do a search on Lookout, then go into the section where the similar apps are.

arborji, those apps require to have been installed beforehand whereas the OP is asking about something that doesn't require to have been installed beforehand.
I presume the OP has lost their N7, did not have anything such as the above mentioned apps installed and is now trying to solve this with the posted question.

Good luck to Karl, it'd indeed he has lost his Nexus 7...
