Has anybody installed KitKat 4.4 yet?
« on: November 25, 2013, 10:38:56 PM »
I got the message that KitKat 4.4 is downloaded to my Nexus 7 and ready to be installed.
After the last update I had to root again.  Has anybody found a way to install it without re-rooting?
Thanks for this great and helpful forum!

Installed. Lost root. Rerooted. Pretty painless.

Tapatalk Pro paid three times version.

I like the new look. I feel it is smoother and I don't have the keyboard bugs anymore!

My wi fi and battery icon is now grey instead of blue. Why would the update change that? Blue is better. How do I change it back?

I don't think you can, not without using an app that allows you to edit things of that nature. Wish they would have kept the blue also, Im not to thrilled with the plane gray notification icons now....

Just updated my Nexus7 2012 tilapia to 4.4 today. Use Android Toolkit by SkipSoft to reroot then reinstall Super SU or Superuser and Busybox. Make sure that you don't relock your boot loader or you'll lose all data.

Use ROM Toolbox pro to change your battery icon. Launch app and go to Interface then Statusbar Icons to switch to whatever you want.

If your rooted you can install the Xposed Framework and Gravity Box which can change the Status icons.
Personally it's really grown on me, I like it.
