Since you have a first generation Nexus 7 you might want to revert to KitKat instead of running Lollipop, especially if you're using older apps. The way apps are stored and executed has changed in Lollipop which breaks older apps and they won't run properly if at all. One thing you can try is to uninstall and reinstall an app to see if it helps the app to run properly. If you find that you have too many apps that won't work correctly then you might want to consider reverting to a previous version of Android. The easiest way to revert to an earlier version of Android is to use a toolkit like SkipSoft's Unified Android Toolkit. This toolkit also allows you to root your device as well as make backups of your apps and data. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Keyboard I changed in the settings I just choose a different one and now I have a black one again.
What I don't like us no matter volume control and no way to totally mute your device! Unlike before when you had the line through the speaker that is no longer possible.
Then there is the fact I have to force close 98% if anything I try! Nothing wants to run right! I was and still is unrooted stock 1st gen Nexus 7. The c makes me want to look at rooting and trying to downgrade! Otherwise this 32gb nexus might as well be a paperweight!

There is no need to root your device just to downgrade, all that is required is to unlock the bootloader. Use a toolkit such as SkipSoft's Unified Android Toolkit which will allow you to make a backup of your apps and data, unlock the bootloader, and download and flash whatever older Android factory image that suits your fancy. I just updated my Nexus 7 1st gen and everything slowed down, i can't even use my tablet, everything crashes, how can I reset it to factory settings?

You'll need to use a Toolkit, such as Wugfresh's, and re-flash the version you want.
If you're not rooted, you can't, unless you use the Toolkit to root first.
No that is not correct, your tablet doesn't have to be rooted to flash an older Android factory image. What is required though is to have the tablets boot loader unlocked. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Still having buggy results with the new update on my original Nexus 7. Very laggy, and apps crash. Want Kit Kat back. Lolly pop no working so good for me.
If you really want to go back to KitKat just download SkipSoft's Unified Android Toolkit. The toolkit will walk you through downloading the factory image you want and installing it on your Nexus 7. It even helps you backup and restore your apps and data. Sent from my Blue iPhone 5c using Tapatalk!

I downloaded the 5.0 factory image over a week ago and flashed it to my Nexus 7 and had a few problems. Had a few apps (mostly games) that didn't want to run at a first, but a simple uninstall and reinstall solved the problem. Got the OTA update to 5.0.1 a coup!e of days ago and no problems so far. Battery life seems to have improved a little...

Please help, I've tried everything and read all I can. My 2012 Nexus 7 tablet will only charge if it is turn off completely. I love reading books on it but can't because it will not charge while the tablet is on. I have tried everything I have read on line. Yes I am using the cables that it came with. I've tried changing it from MTP to FTP (no luck on either). I've tried turning it off and seeing that it is charging and then turning it back on - still doesn't work, plugging it into my computer. NO LUCK WITH ANYTHING! I see this is a big problem all over the internet but nothing seems to help.
I want to use it on trips, etc. but I need to to charge while using it and it hasn't done that since I got it about a year ago.
Are you using the same AC adapter that came with it as well? Tablets require a higher amount if power to charge the device than a smartphone. Typically the power requirements call for a 10 watt adapter that can provide 2.1 amps of current. Sounds to me like you're using a 5 watt 1.2 amp adapter instead. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Tapatalk seems to be only for Android devices. I access this forum on a computer using a browser. Is there no help for that?
I'll try posting a link to the photos and see if that works.
One thing you could do is use Blue Stacks its an android emulator for the PC that allows you to run Android apps. I've used it a few times myself to run Tapatalk with no problems. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Well let's put it this way, the WiFi will connect to a hotspot that you've connected to previously automatically. If you are near a new hotspot, you'll just be notified that a new hotspot is available but you'll still be using your LTE connection until you manually connect to the new hotspot.

Bought the new 2013 version (32gb) of the Nexus7 as a Christmas
present for myself.
It came with a tiny piece of paper which, with the aid of an electron
microscope, told me how to turn the device on.
So here I am to find out if I've purchased wisely or bought a dud.
