Great video.  Wow, those pages and flips were loading faster than my Transformer Prime.

The smaller screen with same processor make this tab blaze!

You can definitely still scratch the glass.  When I saw the first scratch on my phone, I plasticized everything.

Then I have heard stories of people who have keys in their pocket next to their phone with no scratches.  Maybe comes down to what people consider a scratch.  If I turn a device sideways and see marks, I cry.

Of course!  I am glad we are not getting the white ones.  They look okay, but would probably get dirty unless protected.  With this back, it looks like you will only need a screen protector for your 7.  Hope so, as a case or cover takes away from the form factor.

True.  I guess the cloud is the future...but not one I care about.  It would have been nice to use an sd card for transferring pics from my camera since it doesn't have bluetooth, or to grab a file quickly from work without having to wait for it to transfer up.  For the pics, I guess I will have to transfer them to my computer, since I edit most of them anyway, than transfer to tablet.  This should hopefully work with the USB on Nexus 7.

Some people state that the cloud lessens the quality of their music files (?) but I guess Google needed a way to make some money on this device, thus the store, cloud, etc.  Luckily they included the USB or sales would not have been near as good.   No doubt it is a great tablet, but an sd card port and HDMI port would have been a game changer.

Has anyone noticed some videos/images show a brown rubber back and some show a white rubber back?  I wonder if it has to do with the 8g or 16g model.  That is the only spec difference I can think of.

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Re: HDMI Output

Sorry, I should not have called it that.  I'm old and senile!!  Not really an adapter, but what hooks up to the pins on the bottom of a device (like a dock), which in this case would be USB/power outlet.

I wish I could remember the site where I saw the video, but it showed a Nexus 7 that had a micro-HDMI output on the bottom near the USB/power (developer/oversea models).  Has anyone else seen this or is my senility kicking in again?  Only reason is I'm thinking the hardware would be there for HDMI.

Sorry, the MHL is apparently not there, so no HDMI unless someone comes up with a pogo pin adapter or dock.

First of all, thank you Rob, for taking on the huge task of getting this forum started and moderating.

Me?  I'm just here to learn and share knowledge on the Nexus 7...probably more to learn!

Now that it is out and the rumors are over, I think it is a great tab for the price.  I ordered the 16g in case the USB doesn't accept adapters (SDCard, HDMI, etc.), but I am optimistic that they will work fine.  The screen, processor, and 4.1 look great.

This will be a fun tablet and this will be a great place to check out mods, updates, etc from all the creative minds out there!

It might have been wireless as I didn't notice a cable in video.  But, that said, I do believe some dev tabs and oversea tabs do have a micro-HDMI port.  Not us, but thank God for the micro-USB.  We can hopefully use it for an HDMI converter and a SDCard reader.

Possible, yes, known, not yet..I wish someone from Google I/O (who has a Nexus 7) could try the above adapters (if they have them, maybe asking for too much) and let us know if they work with the micro-USB.  I had heard it does have MHL, so that would be great.  We can only hope!

Agreed, if it didn't have USB or Bluetooth,  I would not have ordered one.  Would gladly pay more for SD card and HDMI.

Google should have made an " a la carte" tablet where you pay for more features.

That said, I will also cancel order if Asus brings back the MeMo 370t or something similar (soon)!

Oh Google, please get it right with the SD card and at least include a port where we can add a USB, HDMI adapter.

Cheap price will not mean a thing if everything has to be done "in the cloud".
