Sweet! Let me know if you come across any issues. Im assuming that you are rooting? Can you send a picture of the app drawer? I'm curious if they use the same launcher.

I've been kind of curious about the Finless ROM, and why the CPU clocks are set at 1.2ghz.  The ROM for mine has clocks set at 1.6ghz with the same CPU.   After all the work I've been doing, the manufacturer finally released the stock ROM.  I'm debating on trying Finless and seeing what options work on these devices fit custom ROMs, but I don't want to sacrifice the clock speeds. Have you seen anything on overclocking this ROM?

I ran Antutu on the stock MK808 ROM & clocked ~9800 (v. ~12300 for the stock Nexus 7). I only expected 6600-6700. I've tweaked the N7 to 13133 without over clocking.

So far, Antutu has crashed the Finless 1.5a ROM every time I've run it.

I understand the Finless ROMs are designed to optimize wi-fi through-put, but it looks like they come with a cost.

Edit: The Antutu issue is reportedly an inadequate power supply problem. I corrected the Antutu results above from 9300.

Cool, Bob cooks some great roms.
If I were to use one of these devices as an HTPC, is there any way to get dvr functionality with a cable or ota tuner and xbmc? I'm tying up my laptop doing this. Anyone tried it?

Matt,
The inputs are lacking on these devices. There is a single USB input and a micro USB on mine. As far as functionality otherwise, if there's an app for it, it can do it. There hardware is not to shabby and can definitely keep up with the trending technology. Its basically a android tablet interface with an external screen. If you can get your Nexus to do what you are looking for, a mini can do it with the addition of an external storage slot.

Darrell,
What Android version is your current ROM? The main reason I selected the UG007 was because of the clock speeds and it runs 4.1.1 out of the box. First one on the market to run Jelly Bean.

Ryan,

I ran Antutu successfully twice with the Nexus 7 charger. Results were 10131 & 9986 v. stock MK808 9866 (I was incorrect in earlier post). IDK why my CPU is clocked at 1.2 and yours at 1.6. They seem to be the identical chipset. Others have successfully over clocked MK808s to 1.6.

My MK808 came with 4.1.1.

Here's the app drawer photo.

A photo of the Finless boot animation.

Finally, here's a photo of the MK808 next to the Nexus 7.

I've officially come to the conclusion that my stock firmware is garbage. I've ran Antutu multiple times with different power sources and I barely reached over 7000 once. I think I'm going to flash Finless and see what improvements i can make. I'm going to work on over clocking the kernel too.

It can get cryptic with all these acronyms and emoticons and spell incorrections flying around. I've had to look up a few myself lol. Dvr is digital video recording, which is a big part of an htpc. Like a vcr on a hard drive. Since android has to have usb drivers compiled in the kernel, I wondered if tv tuners were included. Then with a usb hub and an external hard drive an android media center analogue would be needed to schedule recordings. I'll just keep lurking til someone makes it work and then pounce on it. ;D

Sorry to hear that. It looks like the MK808, despite fewer features, is smoother & better supported than your UG007.

The antennae on my MK808 are junk. I'm getting sporadic wi-fi signal from my router with the MK808, while my N7 sees 7 other SSIDs. Here's the front antenna,

And here is the rear antenna

I'm going to take the antenna off an old wireless router, and soldier it to my MK808.
