If you really want an inexpensive device to squirt media out to your TV, you should check out one of these KDlinks 680

http://www.amazon.com/kdLinks-HD680-Extreme-Network-Built-In/dp/B005KFHVES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356035260&sr=8-1&keywords=kdlinks+hd680

PRO:
Sends any file/codec to TV I have tried.  Impressive network connectivity, can plug in keyboard, mouse, 4 TB hard drive, Flash Memory, powered USB hub, control it from remote it comes with, keyboard, Nexus 7 with iMediaShare etc.   YouTube app works fine, I can stream to it and TV thru it 1080p, it can play my PCs DVD drive or a local one, and more.
Has a "drop a file into me icon and I will play it to your tv" PC app that comes with it.  You can send files (or manage) over the network to the attached HD drives.  DLNA.

CON:
Built in browser is buggy to say the least.

Conclusion:
Impressive as hell for 100 bux.

Sounds great for heavy-duty  video  buffs.  I'm just a dabbler interested in playing video games &  web  surfing, so this $60  MK808 is nearly ideal for me.

Doing some more reading, I see the highest MK808 CPU speed attainable is 1400 MHz, and only if the governor is set to "performance." So that explains why my Antutu results plateau at 1400.

I think I changed some parameter during my initial testing. I only had to mess up the 1200 MHz test to get the apparently odd results. I also messed with the "interactive" governor setting, and had two CPU control programs running. I paid more attention to detail during the second round of testing.

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow. 49.6 mpg avg for 38k miles in non-hybrid Scion xB

I don't have an HDMI-capable monitor, or a 1020p television, so I viewed my mini-PC on a friend's tv, and flashed the original 720p kernel back. My Antutu baseline is 9984.

I wish I had the time to collect some of this data as well. With the holidays, I've had no time at all to poke around with my gadgets.

This is some great research Darrell!

Thanks, Ryan.  It was your post that let me know these dandy devices exist.  I flashed kizs' Version 2 1.5GHz 720p kernel with the Finless 1.5a ROM, and consistently get 10800 Antutu scores.

FWIW,  Finless' kernel  sets the MK808  CPU's max  clock speed to  1.008GHz, whille  kizs' kernel sets it  to  1.5GHz. Finless is conservative about overrheating..

Finless Bob told me that the kernel is locked because of the proprietary drivers. Alternate kernels can be used on different devices, but complete compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

Bob is generous in sharing his knowledge. I've tried to thank  him, but my registration  never went through  on Freaktab, and my followup request has been  ignored.

I found an eBay vendor selling MK808s for $40. I couldn't resist, & ordered 4. I didn't know much about air mouse keyboards when I bought my MK808, so I ordered an RC12. Now, I think I'll try an RC11 & a  q7.

I'll give one to my son, one to my daughter's family for the most tech-minded grandchild, and I'll sell one to a friend. That leaves me two to play with.

I got home from a road trip to learn my shipment wasn't delivered because of "insufficient address," even though I have lived in the same house for 25  years.  I was going  to write to the seller , but he's  no longer an eBay seller.

Sorry but sounds like you have a problem. I remember getting screwed in my earlY days and had to jump thru hoops for months just to get a third of what I got fzicked over.
