Does anyone have lollipop 5.1.1 installed with a successfully installed xposed framework?

I flashed 5.1.1 and it is cool. But my twrp recovery 2.8.6.0 fails to flash xposed. Twrp 2.8.6.1 will do it on the nexus 5, but that version doesn't exist for flo (nexus 7 2013 wifi). I was told that some earlier versions of twrp will flash xposed framework. So if anyone has xposed installed in 5.1.1 on a nexus 7 2013 tablet, please let me know which twrp version you have running.

Thank you.

If yes, how?

If not, will another app do it?

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Preventing apps from updating
« on: January 21, 2014, 10:49:45 AM »
There are some paid apps that were better before the developers "improved" them in later versions. That is the case for at least 3 apps I purchased and have installed on my Nexus 7. I have them backed up on Titanium Backup and set these backups to "protected". So they are available to restore from.

Unfortunately, the play store constantly tries to update them and detaching them from the market using tibu only sticks for 1-2 days.

Is there a way I can permanently stop play store from constantly including them in its "update all" list?

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Keyboard setting not sticking
« on: November 05, 2013, 07:16:37 AM »
I recently finally accepted the 4.3 ota update on my rooted Nexus 7 2013. It made me lose root, so I used the latest wugfresh nexus toolkit and the Samsung drivers to root again and had to reinstall TWRP again.

Since then I've noticed a new weird problem.

I've used SwiftKey pro for a long time and have it set as the default keyboard in the tablet settings. Since the 4.3 update the default keyboard setting resets itself to the Google English keyboard every time the nexus goes to sleep. I reset it in Settings /Language & Input and it stays that way until the tablet goes to sleep. When repowered up, it reset itself to the Google keyboard again. Really weird and annoying. I tried rebooting and that doesn't help.

Anyone else has seen this or knows how to fix it?

Thanks.

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Pulse notification light?
« on: September 01, 2013, 03:17:11 PM »
There is a setting under Display for "Pulse Notification Light".

What is that and what does it do?

I previously used a nexus 7, 1st generation with a moko case which I loved. Therefore when I purchased my nexus 7.2 (2nd generation) I purchased the same Moko slim case for my new Nexus 7, 2nd generation.

The case looks exactly like the first except for the size. What is strange is that I have noticed that when I open the case fully - so that it's folded back on itself - there will be instances when the Nexus 7 will freeze. No longer reacts to touch or keyboard. Some apps would even crash when I use the Nexus 7 in the case that way. I discovered that if I lift the folded lid of the case a little off the back the freezing stops and the apps no longer crash. So obviously the magnet in the case is either defective (too strong or too weak) causing the Nexus 7 to malfunction. Unless this is a defect in the Nexus 7, 2nd generation itself.

Anyone else has had this happen?

Nexus 7.2 (2013), rooted with WUGfresh toolkit, verified root successfully.

Tried to do a Nandroid backup by rebooting into recovery but I get the image of the robot with a red triangle on his belly.

Tried the same thing using rom toolbox and get the same red triangle on robot.

What does it mean and how do I get to do a Nandroid backup?

Thanks

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Nexus 7.2 charger
« on: August 20, 2013, 06:33:35 PM »
Are the AC chargers for the 2012 and 2013 versions interchangeable?

As as usual the charger cords for the Nexus are very short. So long ago I purchased a charger with a longer cord for the 2012 Nexus and wonder if I can now use it with the newer 2013 Nexus. It looks like the two supplied chargers might be different. The older nexus charger is 5 volts and 2 amps. The newer Asus supplied AC charger specs are hard to read but they seem to have different voltage/amperage written on them.

Does anyone know?

Nexus 7 Help / Turn pattern lock off when at home.
« on: August 20, 2013, 05:47:38 PM »
I tried to use Tasker to turn my nexus 7 pattern lockscreen off when I am connected to my home wifi but it worked erratically even using the secure plug in. I think I recall an app that could do that but cannot find it in play. Anyone know of such an app or a Tasker profile that works for this?

Thanks

About a month ago I rooted my Nexus 7 using the WUG Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.3. After some initial difficulty I was successful and got it rooted and all is well and has been well since then.

Recently a friend told me I should be sure to flash a custom recovery. I can now see that the WUG Nexus Root Toolkit does have an option to flash a custom recovery but it seems not to be a separate item but is available as part of the rooting process. My problem is that, because I do not know my way around android, I do not remember if I selected the option to "flash a custom recovery" when I rooted the nexus. Is there a way to find out?

In any case, I would like to flash an updated custom recovery. How do I do that? I would rather not go through the rooting process all over because it was quite traumatic the first time. Can I use the toolkit to just flash a custom recovery by itself?

Is flashing a custom recovery the same thing as doing a nandroid backup?

Hope this makes sense. Image is what I get when I g into what I think is recovery mode

Nexus 7 Help / Precautions when connected to unprotected wifi
« on: March 19, 2013, 01:21:46 PM »
When my windows 7 laptop connects to a new wifi hotspot away from home it always asks whether I wish to classify the new source as a home wifi or not - the latter choice offering less than full access to my system. It is not much protection but is a little something.

This does not happen when my Nexus 7 connects to a new hotspot. Does android have a similar way of limiting access to a device when connected to a unsecured wifi hotspot?

If not, is there an app for that function?

What precautions do android device users use to protect against open hotspots (short of not using them at all)?

Nexus 7 Help / Second, separate contact list?
« on: March 18, 2013, 11:58:28 AM »
Contacts in the nexus 7 are in the app they call People.
When I imported a very large address book into People it imported everything into the all contacts section - which I did not want. So I wiped the contact data using Ti backup, rebooted and restored an earlier backup which brought things back to normal.

Is there a way to have a second, separate address book which I could access when needed but which is not part of the main address book?

Or, alternatively import directly into a separate specified group instead of the all contacts?

Thanks.

Nexus 7 Help / Who uses encryption?
« on: March 16, 2013, 11:00:26 AM »
I wonder how many nexus 7 users use encryption. And if they do, do they use the built in encryption capability or a separate tool.

Encryption seems like a no brainer for a portable device but ease of use and reliability are important factors. I have not tried the nexus 7 encryption because of warnings about its irreversibility and the long time it would take to encrypt. So it was like jumping into a pool in the dark.

What are other users thoughts or experiences?

Encrypting a data portion of the storage space would seem more reasonable as long as it did not damage speed of use and could be reversed. My favorite tool in Windows is Truecrypt but it does not work in android. Any similar options in android?

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Installing adobe flash on nexus 7
« on: March 13, 2013, 04:56:50 PM »
How does one install flash on the nexus 7?

I found a method on this forum but it involves downloading and installing the xscope browser. I don't want to use another browser. Is there a way to install flash for general use?

Thanks.

Nexus 7 User Tips / Excellent video for nexus 7 users
« on: March 13, 2013, 06:57:29 AM »
I discovered an excellent series of videos for new nexus 7 users that contain a lot of useful information. It is at the end of the thread:

Hope this is useful to others.
