I downloaded the nexus root Toolkit and because my nexus 7 is updated to 4.2.2 I extracted adb_fastboot_files_for_4.2.2.zip into its data folder. But when I select nexus 7 wifi and "any build" I get an error box that says This feature does not work with, the build you have selected. Please select another build and try again or use the boot temporary to boot button and modified boot image of your choice" Scary stuff for a newbie. What do I do? Thanks

I have a wpa-psk protected home wlan. Because the password is very long and complicated I temporarily used wps to connect the nexus 7. Worked fine.
Problem is after leaving the home and connecting with another wlan I discovered on coming home that nexus would not automatically reconnect to my home wlan because itforgot the password. So to reconnect I had to use wps again-which I don't like to do.
Is this normal on the nexus?
Is it possibly because I used wps instead of manually entering the password?
For privacy reasons I do not sync with Google. Won't the nexus 7 remember wlan passwords if I do not sync?
Trying to understand how the nexus works. Thanks for any help.

I have a rooted android 2.3.4 phone with tethering capabilities. I've never needed to tether till now. But now I have a nexus 7 and would like to use the phone's custom rom built in tether capabilities. Can't get it to work. When I turn on wireless tether on the phone , it asks for root permission and then sets itself with the SSID of AndroidTether. But the wireless on the nexus cannot see AndroidTether. Works fine with other wlans. Just can't connect to Android tether. Do I need to do something else to make the tether work on the nexus? Thanks

I have my nexus 7 pattern-locked.
1. When at power up the lock screen appears, for a brief second an empty square outline partly appears on the top left of the screen and then disappears before I have a chance to do anything with it. Just the right edge appears. What is that?
2. Is there any way to modify the locked screen? Like adding widgets or rearranging things?
Thanks.

I have a new Nexus 7. Is there a way to make a complete backup (not just data) to my computer before I attempt rooting it? A backup that would be useful to restore if something goes wrong during the rooting? How exactly? I read the piece explaining backups but it seems to be discussing rooted N7s. Thanks.

Real newbie with a 1 day old Nexus 7. Downloaded the Nexus Root toolkit from this site but it does not have the android 4.2.2 I have running on the N7. Using *.*.* and my build # gives me an error: "This feature does not work with the build you selected....." Scared to go any further.
