I assume you are talking about illegal download books and not google books. Google books are always in the cloud and you can select "download" and put it on any Android device you want.
Judge not, lest ye be judged.
+1 for ibm650 The forum does not support illegal content and yet we recognize that DRM sometimes blocks legitimate content.

Is a screen protector even warranted? It has gorilla glass on it so why bother?
Screen protectors are an on going debate, but it comes down to preference, as choices are more available we can discuss it in depth.

Epub and Mobi are the most widely used formats, I plead ignorance on IOS :-)

I do not have my N7, but from what I have read the N7 will be recognized as a "Portable Device" in the Windows environment, if so Calibre will not recognize it as an e-reader and allow you a direct transfer from Calibre, much the same as my ThinkPad Tablet. Also even though the Portable Device in Windows shows up as a drive, you may not be able to see all of the folders, much as the OP (Original Poster) noted that they could not see the ebook folder. This is understandable because the device is designed to purchase books from the Google Play Store. First off the native e-reader may not allow you to view non-Play Store Books, so you may have to go to the market and install another e-reader like Aldiko. You can copy your books to the internal storage of your Nexus 7 with the Windows file explorer and create a new folder and place them in an existing like music or pictures, if you have write permissions to those folders. Then you can use a app like Astro file manager to move the books to the folder that you wish and have them show up in your e-reader. You will note that with the Astro file manager you will be able to see all of the folders that were not visible in Windows. I would expect Calibre to eventually allow direct communication with Windows Portable Device or WPD and since I do not have the latest version of Calibre it may have been implemented in the latest version. I have successfully copied books to both of my other tablets, but without the N7, I can only give general guidelines at this point.

You may feel slighted by Google with your Nexus 7 pre-order, seeing GameStop, Staples, Office Depot, and Sam's Club, with available stock on Friday, 13Jul2012 and no shipping charge, but they are all currently showing "Out of Stock", so they obviously had a limited allotment. Also, at this time the Google Play Store no longer shows that you can pre-order, rather "Available for Order" and "Shipping When Available". Therefore, from my point of view, if Google lives up to the promise of 13Jul2012, that all pre-orders would ship within 3 business days, those of us with pre-orders are in the "Catbird Seat". Google has received so many negative comments to their Google+ announcement about the initiation of pre-order shipping, that they have disabled comments, so I think they will certainly try to avoid a second black eye. Certainly I will have reservations about purchasing devices from Google Play, rather than retail outlets, in the future, but if they fail on meeting the 3 business day shipping announcement it would be a certainty that I would not. I am sure there are many soon to be Nexus 7 owners , like me, that pre-ordered in the first or second week of July and are still waiting on a shipping confirmation, but I for one am betting that Google honors their three day shipping promise.

Hey, the first time I saw it, I remember thinking, "What is the difference in applauding and smiling?" Fortunately I read it again and figured out that it said smite.

Welcome to the forum Don. I did not order my N7 until the 6th of July so I am patiently waiting.
BTW, The Phoenix Marathon is still on my list.

If you experience the forum failing to retain your password, make sure you are logged into the forum, then go to the forum home page and make sure you can see the right sidebar that says "User Info", then click "Logout" in the user info, then the option will change to login and you make sure "Forever" is your selected option, then log back in. There is no rhyme or reason to it, but in the forums where we use this forum software is usually corrects the problem.

Thanks to Babyfacemcgee for posting and drawing attention to the forum rules, which are unfortunately necessary to provide guidelines for maintaining order in a forum. On that note, if you are new to forums do not feel intimidated by the rules, if you accidentally break one you will not be banned from the forum, rather you will be helped by a moderator, so that you avoid it in future posts. Most importantly remember that this is a help forum and when asking for help or giving help, you will often find different opinions, therefore if you are in a discussion with opposing opinions, be courteous and respectful with your replies. Now that we are receiving our devices, look for future tips on doing the cool stuff that you see others do, like when BFM posted click here for Forum Rules. Also, remember to click on the Applaud button under the user name when a user makes a helpful post.

Unlocked is an unlocked bootloader, which allows you to write to the system partition. Then you can put the Superuser app in the system partition and change the recovery to CWM.

Just got a call from GameStop telling me that I could come in a pickup my Nexus7 this morning (Friday 7/13).
Nice.. I just emailed Google asking if they'd comp me the shipping price I paid, which was $13.99, since I could've ordered locally instead and gotten it faster. Maybe they'll be kind
If you pre-order from Google and want to question the shipping charge, go to your Google Wallet and click on contact customer support, scroll to the bottom and look for "Email Us" then click on "Order Inquires". You can then send Google an email with your concerns. As samalex did, I asked for credit for the shipping charge. We may not receive any thing for the effort, but I personally feel better expressing my opinion and we may just get some consideration, either now or in the future.
